Reviews
Bob Campbell, MW (The Real Review): 96/100 & (#1 of 53 2021 Chardonnay from Marlborough). Intense chardonnay with lemon curd, oyster shell, ginger, struck flint and attractively integrated spicy oak flavours. Youthful wine with bright, juicy acidity that brings energy while driving a lengthy finish. Classy chardonnay. Should develop well with bottle age.
Cameron Douglas MS: 95/100. A very enticing bouquet of ripe stone fruits and barrel spices, some wood smoke and blond tobacco suggestions. Excellent weight and intensity on the palate with a distinctive mouthfeel and texture, there’s no mistaking the oak, lees autolysis and baking spice qualities. Flavours of peaches and nectarines, grapefruit and white smoke all combine to deliver a wine of freshness and power. Best drinking from 2023 through 2029+.
James Suckling (JamesSuckling.com): 94/100. Aromas of Meyer lemon, yellow apple and acacia followed by sea shell, cheese rind and a hint of hay and button mushroom. Medium-bodied, refreshing acidity. Zesty layers with fascinating complexity. Drink or hold.
Tasting Note
A ripe citrus spectrum of fruit is at the core of a complex chardonnay with spice, toasted nuts and flint aromas. A pure and focussed palate with a bright, crunchy structure and fine acidity. The complex barrel aged flavours also imparting textures that carry on the back of the fine acidity.
