Tasting note
This wine is fashionably pale pink, and though delicate in appearance has a prominent nose of watermelon, raspberries, red apples and cherries, wonderful soft fruity texture, and a fullness of palate. Nice acidity ensures length and a clean and dry finish.

Vintage 2022: A rare two years continual la Nina climatic conditions provided a somewhat predictable environment of spring rains and warm sunny days. Good growing conditions that required continual devigorating solutions for the vines. Summer was also warm and sunny with local ocean temperatures up to two degrees warmer than ‘normal’. The increased risk this creates for large rain events never eventuated and grapes ripened and were picked in fine condition in what was an early vintage.
Regional climate: Nelson is regularly New Zealand’s sunniest region. With young alluvial soils, abundant clean fresh water and a sheltered topography, Nelson grows a wide range of crops to exceptional standards. The proximity of Nelson to the temperate Tasman Sea ensures minimal frost risk and moderation of extreme daytime temperatures. Grapes ripen evenly and slowly allowing full and bright flavour development.
Winemaking: This Rosé is 75/25% blend of Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier from the winery's original Meunier block. The fruit was machine picked, enjoying only a short skin contact time during travel to the winery. Once there it was promptly crushed, transferred to the press, and pressed off directly. The clarified juice was fermented with a yeast chosen for the volume of esters it liberates during ferment. The ferment was arrested with just 5g/L residual sugar. From here the wine was simply and briskly moved through the finishing steps. Bottled early August 2022 to capture the wine’s youthful finesse.
